This time, I decided to try a few new things. First off, I didn't draw out the image before I started. I just winged it (which is why there are more anatomical problems than usual). Secondly, I decided to try a different style that didn't involve line after line after line. Partly because I wanted to work this up fast. And partly because I ruined my thin paintbrush and haven't had a chance to go out and get a new one yet.
In hindsight, I wish I'd made the background a bit lighter. I thought my subject would be a bit lighter than he ended up being. Eh well. It was a nice experiment either way. And I have two more of these canvas boards. . .will have to brainstorm what to put on them.
This painting will be for sale in an online auction to benefit a not-for-profit organization I work for. More information will be posted when it becomes available. Or you can email me.
Medium: Acrylic paint on 8 X 10" canvasboard.
Art is (c) Dancing Cavy Productions and is not to be used anywhere without permission from the artist.
I'm not planning on going back to this one since it was just an exercise. I have a couple other ideas that I'm considering putting on the other two boards and will definately keep 'good lighting' in mind.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Non-anime artist for mediocrity!
That's okay, I'll take your advice too--even if it's the same.
The more I look at this piece. . .the more I hate it. The next one will be better.
